Give Thanks to God for You - Lifesong India

We are blessed to share this update from Bob Stoll,  Lifesong India liaison,

"You deserve a sincere thank you for your faithful participation in this ministry. Your prayers, gifts and obedience to the Holy Spirit have encouraged us and made possible a notable miracle in the multitudes of lives which have been changed spiritually, materially and physically.

Receiving Christmas presents

It has been a blessed privilege for Siromani and me to be a voice communicating on behalf of the kids in India.  It is also our duty toassure you of their appreciationfor the blessing you have provided year after year for more than thirty-four years. We have gladly undertaken this responsibility because we believe this is our calling for God's glory.

You have built six homes where you are providing total care to 570 children. They receive a new set of clothes at Christmas (enjoy the Christmas pictures!), education through college, food, toilet articles, and Bibles.

Christmas Celebration

You have also been faithful to provide continual help to nearly 60 poor pastors and gospel workers, 130 indigent widows and elderly and have built nearly 40 new churches for remote village congregations.

We send their sincere thanks and our to you and assure you that our friends in India 'pray for you and give thanks to God for you every day.'"

Are You Willing? -- Lifesong India

Listen in as Bob Stoll, Lifesong India shares an experience from his time overseas...

I was a guest in a leper colony for a week. I watched as the clinic doctor worked on the ulcerated hands and feet of the lepers. Most had no fingers and toes. They are injured, burned and infected without knowledge because leprosy robs extremeties of the gift of pain.

11Nov IndI stood and watched a woman as she struggled to latch her sandal.

She finally succeeded. The Lord chastened me for not helping her. It occurred to me that I didn't love her enough to even offer my help. Despite my regret, the opportunity was gone. Conviction made it's home in my heart for the rest of my stay at the colony. I hated myself.

But God redeemed my error in a beautiful way.

On the day I left, the doctor assembled the lepers. They sat on the grund under a thatched canopy as I spoke to them from the Bible. When I finished, my friend brought twelve lepers up front, provided me with a towel and besin of water and said "wash their feet". I had not told him of my experience. How did he know I needed to redeem my error? I thanked and praised God for the opportunity and practically dove into the water as I proceeded to wash twenty-four leprous feet.

Since then God has presented me with multiple opportunities to show love to to the unlovely. Sometimes I fail. Will I ever learn? Lord help me...

-Bob Stoll, Lifesong India

...A man with leprosy came and knelt in front of Jesus, begging to be healed. 'If you are willing, you can heal me and make me clean,' he said. Moved with compassion, Jesus reached out, touched him and said, 'I am willing.'

Overcoming Illiteracy: Lifesong India

Please enjoy this update from Lifesong India:

  • The new school year has started in India and Lifesong for Orphans is once again making it possible for 585 poor children to obtain a quality education all the way through college.

  • Illiteracy is rampant among India's poor.  Even though India is making rapid economic progress as a nation the illiterate poor are unable to benefit.  Thanks to Lifesong and our faithful supporters many children who have illiterate parents are escaping the curse of illiteracy and are able to take their place in India as productive citizens.
  • At Jyothi Nivas (shown below), one of our 6 homes, we give total care to 270 children who attend grade school through college.  Our college graduates have become engineers, nurses, pastors, teachers, computer specialists, etc.  The average college tuition of $400 yearly is something we are committed to paying and for which we depend on the generous gifts of our supporters.

Something better...

Imagine living in a house made entirely out of concrete, that heats up like an oven in the hot sun. Imagine a bare lightbulb hanging from the ceiling as your only light.  Imagine having no toilet facilities or running water, but instead getting all your water from a community hand pump.  Imagine having parents who worked in the field, barely able to provide from day to day.  Imagine no hope, growing up in a hope of idolatry and severe poverty.

To Sindhu Babu this kind of life was normal.  It wasn't until he (at age 10) came to Lifesong India that he knew there was something better.  Something far better.

Today, at age 18, Sindhu Babu not only has a hope for a future as he studies to become an electrical engineer... not only does he live in a clean home with clean running water... and not only has he heard the word of God, but in 2003, his parents, who for years worshipped idols, gave their lives to Christ!

Praise God that He continues to replace hope for despair in the nearly six hundred children we work with and their families!

Thank you for your continued prayer and support as we serve children in India!
