kids caring for kids | Prairie Christian School

Something special happened at a little school in central Illinois (Prairie Christian School)!  An 8 yr old girl @ PCS, decided to help the orphans in Zambia. Completely on her own initiative, and initially unbeknown to her parents, she began to create posters, flyers, and asked her school friends, to give and help the Lifesong School in Zambia!

Now when I first heard this was happening, I thought "ah, that's great...she'll probably help raise $30-$50 and that will be a fun experience for their class"

Boy, was I wrong.  Someone must've watched this video

These PCS kids busted their piggy banks!  Some gave $2.  Some gave $40. All they had in quarters, dimes, nickels & pennies. Kids recruited their parents & grandparents to give.  They did pay jobs around the house, etc.

This small school of only about 35 students helped raise $3,046.31

Whoever thinks kids can't make a difference... must not have met the students of PCS!

Prairie Christian School students & teachers!

The whole school voted on how to spend the money they raised, here is the DIFFERENCE they will be making in Zambia!

1. Playground for School campus

2.  Funding 2 meals/day for all the students

3.  Buying school supplies for teachers & students

Haggai | God has remembered Him...

On our recent Zambia Vision Trip we met a young man named Haggai, who is abou 13 yrs old but only in the 3rd grade because he hadn't attended school much at all, until he came to the Lifesong School.

Watch his story...to see how God is turning broken-ness into beauty...!

Food production @ Lifesong School - Zambia

A note from our Lifesong - Zambia (John and Dru):

Just thought you might like to see a few of these photos--the 3rd grade boys shelling the maize by beating it in a bag, the pile of maize that filled one classroom about a foot deep, the shelled maize starting to pile up, and the 3rd grade girls cooking for the the other children.

The children at Lifesong School - Zambia are really proud of their marvelous vegetable garden. What you see is Chinese cabbage and onions. There are thousands which will be transplanted to the other side of the road. Tomatoes, carrots, green beans and green peppers are also coming up.
