My favorite adoption parenting book is "Parenting Your Internationally Adopted Child" by Patty Cogen. Really great! Other friends of mine who have read a ton also pick this as a favorite! We are adopting from Ethiopia and right now I'm reading "There is no me without you" byt Melissa Fay Greene. It's powerful, and I'm really enjoying it. As an encouragement to DO something, like God has called us to, a favorite book is "Hole in Our Gospel" by Richard Stern. Super great. Our church is doing a 6 week series this fall and I am soooo excited! And finally for helping start Orphan Ministry, we have enjoyed "Launching Orphan Ministry" by Family Life Ministry. Very helpful.

We highly recommend: With Eyes Wide Open - workbook.
Our adoptions are over 10 yrs ago now, & while other resources have been helpful to guide our parenting through attachment d/o. This gave us a very solid foundational preparation. Especially for adopting older children, it helped us understand more about the scope of cultural differences. We also entered our new parenting relationships with a greater openness to our children's past. Our oldest are now 23, 22 & will tell you that they have always felt able to discuss their feelings about adoption both negative & positive because of the acceptance they had of all phases, aspects of their lives.

Radical by David Platt is not specifically an adoption resource. However, it is a book that forces me to reaize that the American dream is not compatile with followin Christ. Since we started the adoption process, this book has pushed me to let go of possessions and "things" I thought I needed, not onlyto hep get closer to bring my son home from Rwanda, but to give to the fatherless everywhere. His sermon from the Adopted for life conference has also been great. I have listened to it a thousand times.

We really enjoyed Russell Moore's Adopted for Life. It's an awesome resource for adopting families and for Christians in general. Highly recommended.

My favorite adoption book thus far is There is No Me Without You by Melissa Fay Greene. What an amazing lady and an amazing story. This women's story is so compelling it makes me want to go to Ethiopia and do whatever is needed to help the people of Ethiopia. This book is very inspiring. A must read!!

The most concise and to the point resource I've found is the audio CD by FamilyLife (with Dr. Karyn Purvis) The Connected Child:Bring Hope & Healing to Your Adoptive Family. Also, all of the info on the Hope for Orphans site-very exhaustive and helpful for all aspects of adoption.

We loved the book "There's No Me Without You". It is about Ethiopian orphans, but really, it can apply to any adoption. In fact, I have many people in my life who are not adopting, but LOVED this book. Good stuff.

We love Adoption as a Ministry; Adoption as a Blessing. Very good book. Really enjoyed From Ashes to Africa as well!
