Prayer, T-shirts, and Songs
*Warning* this post requires group participation
Last year I participated in my first Orphan Sunday. It wasn't a big event. There were only 8 of us. But it was powerful.
I was involved in a small group study and at the end of every session we would share prayer requests and pray together. Well, on this night instead of sharing personal requests we took turns reading stories about real people, real ministries, real children.
Then we prayed. We prayed for the fatherless. We prayed for the hurting. And we prayed for those who are doing something to help.
Now it's your turn...
Do you have plans for Orphan Sunday? Have you participated in the past?

I am planning our first Orphan Sunday this year. I don't have many ideas yet, so I'm hoping to glean from others. Have info readily available, show a video, sermon, Maybe I could get some of our adults who have been adopted give a testimony.
This is our first Orphan Sunday. We are doing a Daddy for the Daddyless series, Nov 6th is a coffee house (several musicians playing in the round while ppl drink Gobena coffee). It's a bit of a kick off for our ministry. Super excited!
If I were in your prayer circle, I would share Katie Davis. She has inspired my beyond words. http://kissesfromkatie.blogspot.com/
We're bringing in some guest speakers including setting up some informational tables and booths for folks to potential sponsor orphans beginning that day after hearing the message during the service.
Yes, Orphan Sunday is awesome. We are doing a video and an informational table at our church. I am also one of the Missouri volunteers for Orphan Sunday. So - if you are in Missouri get in touch with me and let me help you and get your event on the website. I can do all that for you!
After two years and a lot of prayer, we are having an orpahn Sunday! We get to dedicate the entire service. We are showing clips, a sermon and having a servie project for helping the foster kids in our area. We have invited the Heart Gallery and will have pictures of foster kids up for adoption in our state dotting our foyer. And two weeks later we are having an informational meeting for those interested in adoption to dispell myths and inform about the types of adoption and the process. I am so excited.
I am not sure what I am doing yet this year (I love Orphan Sunday!), but last year I did something at my church. At my church during the church service we have a time where the children go up front and an adult tells them a story before they go to their classes (so the adults also hear the story.) Last year I used that time to talk about orphans and I showed a little video and we prayed together for the orphans.
