Zambia Update

Big things are happening in Zambia for children, once without hope... now with a future!

Please enjoy this update from Lifesong Zambia Director, Dru Smith:

Every child has a right to education. However, for many Zambian children, even though it may be provided by the government, it is unaffordable, unavailable in their neighborhood, or substandard.  For over 100 families in Garneton, Lifesong School is the answer to their prayers. Currently we have 210
children from the poorest of the poor families who attend school each day, even during the three months of break.  When representatives from the Ministry of Education came to inspect our school-they were overwhelmed by what they saw and asked us, "Do you plan to open more schools like this? We really need them!"Lifesong is setting an example and making a difference in Zambia.

~

We were astonished to see all of the work accomplished by 11 friends from Thunder Bay, Ontario.  They spent two weeks volunteering at Lifesong School... leading a workshop with our teachers, teaching our kids about oral hygiene, building us an amazing playground, and more!  We are so very grateful for these dedicated volunteers!

When I visited William last month I was amazed to see the improvement in his left foot after his first surgery. It is straight, and the bottom of the foot is flat on the ground! He struggled with balance, but once he stabilized himself, he started walking.  William had surgery on his right foot on September 2 and is making a speedy recovery. His leg will be in a plaster cast until he returns to the clinic early in October. If all is well, he will be fitted with special shoes to help him walk.  Praise God!

Thank you for your continued prayer and support as we serve children in Zambia

40 days of prayer

over 140 million orphans.

It's overwhelming.

Sometimes it feels too big to help.

But in our weakness He is strong!

He can overcome!

He is big... enough!

40 days of prayer in preparation for Orphan Sunday.

38 days left.

Will you pray today?

Pray that of the 2 billion Christians in the world, 7% would show hope to a single orphan...

If we did this, there would basically be no more orphans!

Humbled... and amazed!

Wow! What an incredible week we had...

We asked YOU, our supporters, to consider committing $28 per month for the next 12 months to support the children at the Master's Home of Champions in Liberia. These donations will cover food and water, and other necessities, such as coal, kerosene, toothpaste, bathing and laundry soup, and hair oil for children like Kemah, Quita, and Alvin.

So, we know you are anxious to hear... did we God meet our goal? No, we didn't... but God! God exceeded our goal! We had 74 commitments!

It was incredible to see families from all over the US working together to bring joy and purpose to the 100 children we serve in Liberia.

To our Lifesong families - wow, we are amazed at the commitment you are making in the midst of your own adoptions! Many of you have made such HUGE sacrifices and we're so blessed to serve alongside you.

To our church fund partners - not only are you committing to global orphan care, but you're serving the families in your church and community... you are truly an inspiration and encouragement to each of us!

To our longtime donors - you continue to amaze us as you 'see a need, meet the need' over and over! We could not continue to serve these children without you!

To our new donors - what a joy it is to see the Lord stir in your hearts to care for the fatherless. You are crucial to our ministry and we're excited to build relationships with each of you!

We are so excited to see what the Lord has in store and the lives He will change through the Master's Home of Champions in Liberia!

Meet Alvin

Alvin was born in a Liberian refugee camp in The Republic of Ghana, Africa.  His mother fled there during the civil war in Liberia.  Sadly, while she was in Ghana her family was killed in Liberia.  Alvin’s father died in the refugee camp before he was born.

In 2007, When Alvin was 4 years-old, he and his mother returned to Liberia.  There she began attending church and quit drinking.  Two years later, a few days before Christmas, she began vomiting and was admitted to a hospital with malaria.  Soon after, she died.

Alvin now lives at Lifesong Liberia's Master's Home of Champions.

You can help a child like Alvin. You can feed a child like Alvin.

Our goal is 70 people. $28 a month. One year commitment.

We have 44. 26 to go!

Will you join us in bringing joy and purpose to orphans?

Contact us at info@lifesongfororphans.org to make your commitment!
