Summit VIII Reflection

Listen in to Summit VIII reflection from Christian Alliance for Orphans' President Jedd Medefind:

Summit VIII was nothing short of amazing.  Even for those of us who spent a lot of time scurrying behind the scenes, the passion and wisdom and experiences brought not only by formal presenters, but by virtually every attendee, left us full-to-the-brim.  Many of the workshop and plenary sessions will be available for download online in the weeks ahead, and we’ll share more stories and reflections as well.  But here’s one window from an article in the Christian Post that accurately captured the theme that pulsed in every aspect of Summit: Justice and Mercy Flow from the Gospel.

Here's a glimpse into the Lifesong booth displaying the 2300 handprints (2nd picture) representing the number of children Lifesong has help bring into Christian adoptive families. We were so excited to MEET some of these families who have partnered with Lifesong like Dustin & Katie (3rd picture)

We'd love to hear from YOU! Whether you were able to attend Summit in person or through the LIVE Webstream, what was your favorite part or how did God speak to you through this event? We'd love to hear from you!

Summit VIII - LIVE Webstream Available!

Can't make it to SummitVIII this year?

For the first time ever, Summit’s plenary sessions and certain other special features will be web streamed live on May 3 and 4!

Admittedly, there’d be no way to capture the full in-person experience online (and aren’t able to offer the closing night concert with Steven Curtis Chapman).  But the webstream will still provide a meaningful window for your friends and other advocates into some of the rich content that you’ll be encountering firsthand at Summit VIII.

You may also want to invite your pastor and church staff to join online Friday, May 4, for the Pastor’s Track workshops with Rick Warren, Dr. Russell Moore and Alex Kennedy.

Summit VIII - Justice & Mercy Flow from the Gospel

The Christian Alliance for Orphans’ annual Summit has become the national hub for what Christianity Today recently called, “the burgeoning Christian orphan care movement.”

Summit VIII on May 3-4, 2012 at Saddleback Church in Southern California is expected to draw 1,800 to 2,000 pastors, grassroots advocates, organizational leaders and church ministry heads. Alongside more than eighty workshops, the unforgettable plenary sessions will include Francis Chan, Rick and Kay Warren, Crawford Lorritts, Dennis Rainey, Steven Curtis Chapman, and other global leaders.

Summit inspires, equips and connects for adoption, foster care and global orphan ministry.

Lifesong for Orphans will be there! Will you? ... Register today!

Look what we found...

Well, we're here in Louisville, at the Orphan Summit!  Woohoo!  And last night co-Lifesonger, Leah Gerber, and I came across the church book store.  Upon wondering in we found our very own Gobena coffee!

"Why?" you ask were we at the Summit a day early?  Simply to attend, and volunteer at, a Desperation Band and Meredith Andrews concert (in case you're wondering, we are now officially "in with the band")...

featuring Tom Davis (president of Children's Hope Chest)...

What a GREAT kick-off to a powerful weekend!

We at Lifesong look forward to the next couple days to meet many of you and hear your stories!  Also if you're wearing a Lifesong t-shirt we would love to get a picture, so don't be alarmed if a crazy looking girl in a yellow LS tee runs up to snap your picture... it's just me.

See you at the Summit!

Are you going to the Summit this week in Louisville? We hope so! If it's anything like the years past, it will be an amazing opportunity to be refreshed and connect with others!

Even if you can’t join us in Louisville for Summit VII, we invite you to join us in prayer.  Please pray especially:

  • That God would prepare each person coming both to give and to receive much at Summit.
  • That the countless details and the myriad of volunteers, speakers, exhibitors, and attendees would all come together smoothly.
  • That seeds sown and cultivated at Summit would bear much good fruit—for the fatherless, the Church and God’s glory for decades to come.
