"Saved" | Nikolas' story

Nikolas (before surgeries)

Have you ever thought about the dangers of the "savior mentality" that san be so prevalent in adoption today?

...because there are so many kids out there who need a home and family. I think we can save one

Often it is a motivation by faith, seeking to love and serve the ‘fatherless’ through adoption. This topic is a sensitive and nuanced one and is ripe for misunderstanding.

Check out this recent Adoption Today article, that by the telling of a story - the Saynors – may illustrate what it means to truly “save” a child through adoption.

Despite the fact that little Nikolas’ story here on earth ended suddenly and tragically, I think the Saynors’ adoption journey illustrates uniquely well what it means to “save” a child through adoption...be sure to read the excerpt from the eulogy of Nikolas' memorial service - see the reality of God’s adoption of us and how His redemptive love changes everything – our past, our present and our eternal future.

...a little glimpse into what it may mean to be “saved by adoption,” both here and now as well as for eternity.

the Widow & the Orphan | Both Hands

You've probably heard the often quoted Bible verse that refers to orphans - James 1:27

"pure religion... is to visit the widows and orphans in their distress..."

We often talk about the "orphan" side of that verse, but less frequently address the "widow" side of that verse.

A friend of mine, JT Olson, recently developed a creative way to help BOTH the orphan & the widow.

Both Hands Foundation helps adoptive families raise money to fund an adoption at the same time as renovating a widow's home - awesome concept!

Check it out...

God showed up for Bezawit & Natti

Check out this note we received today.  Thank you God for showing up and being The Provider!

Thank you to all of you who give generously and sacrificially to help make adoptions and stories like this a reality!

Dear Lifesong for Orphans,

Thank you so much for helping us raise more money than we ever expected!! Your matching grant program spurred on many others to give to our adoption of Bezawit, a beautiful nine year old girl and her adorable 18 month brother Natti from Ethiopia
.

As we began this journey, we did not have the money but knew God was calling us to this and would provide somehow. It has been an incredible journey in so many ways but primarily to see God work in such a mighty way through organizations, people and circumstances. He is so faithful!!

Thank you again for your devotion to obeying God's Word to take care of the orphans by aiding adoptive families in this most significant way.

Many blessings to all of you.

In Christ,

Kevin, Sue, Kassy, Bezawit, Aaron and Natti

And my God will meet all your needs according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus, Phillipians 4:19
