Planning Ahead in Coffee

Anyone thinking Christmas yet?

This week a Christmas tune may have swept through my car speakers.  There may be a gift or two stowed away in the closet for safe keeping.  I may have cast longing glances at the twinkle lights in the basement.

I can't help myself.  I love the feeling of Christmas and when the weather first starts to turn and I smell the crispness in the air, my heart leaps involuntarily... Christmas is on the way!

Many of you are cringing right now.  Yes, I can feel your indignation creeping in... but let's put our differences aside and talk about something really cool you could do this Christmas.

What if instead of giving just another shirt... just another toy... just another... thing, you gave something that continued to give to others?  Continued to give to those who really needed it... to the poorest of the poor... the "least of these."  

There are many ways, you can do this... here is one:

Prayer, T-shirts, and Songs

Last year I participated in my first Orphan Sunday.  It wasn't a big event.  There were only 8 of us.  But it was powerful.

I was involved in a small group study and at the end of every session we would share prayer requests and pray together.  Well, on this night instead of sharing personal requests we took turns reading stories about real people, real ministries, real children.  

Then we prayed.  We prayed for the fatherless.  We prayed for the hurting.  And we prayed for those who are doing something to help.

Gobena Coffee @ Passion2010

I was @ #Passion2010 over the weekend where one ofLifesong's partners, Gobena Coffee, is serving coffee to 22,000 college students at the Passion2010 conference in Atlanta, GA!

Here's a little glimpse into the "Go Center" of the conference where students are encourage to "DO SOMETHING NOW" for the Kingdom...

 Gobena Coffee, with its new look, was recently featured on the Christian Alliance for Orphans blog! They've also created a new video describing their partnership with Lifesong in Ziway, Ethiopia.

Lifesong Ethiopia Feeding Program

Lifesong for Orphans and Gobena Coffee recently partnered with veteran missionaries to start a feeding program in Ziway, Ethiopia. Lifesong is also committed provide a Christian School to 300+ children in the Ziway, Ethiopia community who have very limited access to education.
