Give Hope. Give Future.

"God sent you...and you don't know how much we can sleep now and how the stress has left us. Thanks be to God that He heard us, and sent you."

-Emmanuel Jones, Lifesong Liberia

Connecting Hearts -- Liberia

Keith & Kay Knapp, Lifesong Liberia, witnessed first-hand the significant impact of the Lifesong Liberia Child Sponsorship Program...

The bright eyes and wide smiles said it all.

Opening their envelopes with great excitement, many children at the Master's Home of Champions found not only letters, but all kinds of love from their sponsors in the US! What joy it was for us to hand deliver these caring messages to children who have had great difficulties in their young lives.

As relationships develop between the children and their sponsors, hearts are strongly connected across the miles. The children begin to understand that there are many people who love and care for them, who are willing to invest in their lives and encourage them. What a powerful message!

As they worked on their letters to return with us, the love overflowed. "Thank you, I love you, I pray for you". The little ones labored over colored drawings and short sentences, while the older ones expressed themselves in longer paragraphs. Even children who are not yet sponsored wrote letters!

The impact of these relationships is unmistakable on both sides of the Atlantic, and truly brings joy and purpose to all of us.

Becoming Queen - Lifesong Liberia

Please enjoy this update from Lifesong Liberia:

In the midst of hopelessness, God can bring more than hope into the lives of children.

At the annual community queen contest, 6-year-old Quita represented the Master's Home of Champions, and emerged as the winner!  She showed her talents in singing and dancing, which surprised even her close friends.

Many were moved to tears as she narrated her story.  When asked who her parents were, she replied, "Bishop Jones is my father, and my mother is our Ma (referring to Ramona, Bishop's wife)."  Quita was crowned Queen of the Rehab community!

Quita is living proof that in spite of difficult odds, there is joy and purpose in her young life.

Thank you for your prayer and support as we serve orphans in Liberia.

Milestones and Blessings

Please enjoy this update from Lifesong Liberia:

  • The school at Rehab will be celebrating our Kindergarten graduation of 28 students on June 26th.  Eight of the graduates are from the Home of Champions.  This is a big milestone for them!

  • The Lifesong Christian Academy at Marshall is nearly complete.  This new eight-room school building will hold over 200 students!  It is the first school in the Marshall area, which is a huge blessing and will help bring about transformation in the community.
  • We are seeing a big difference at the Marshall Home of Champions. New kitchen and toilet facilities are being added.  The children's education has greatly improved, and the home is becoming a light to the community.  More than 190 people attend worship services on Sundays, and over 200 collect drinking water from our well on a daily basis.

Please pray for:

  • Wisdom in all we do with the kids and staff
  • God's protection and health for the kids, staff, and directors, Bishop Emmanuel and Ramona Jones
  • Continuous growth of the church in Marshall
  • Continuous spiritual growth for our kids

Please consider giving to one of our specific needs.

Thank you for your continued prayer and support as we serve children in Liberia.

the Smell of Shelves

It's been a while since I attended good ol' Gridley Grade School, but one thing I remember vividly is the smell of the school library.

(sigh)  I used to love to meander (needless to say, i wasn't the most focused student) through the shelves, breathing deeply the smell of wood and old books.

Can you imagine a school where the books are few, and even more, there are no shelves to store them? Honestly it's a hard picture for me to grasp.  It's really a very basic need, shelves in the classroom, but in Liberia this is one basic need they have to go without.

For the kids at Lifesong Liberia we want to change that.
