"I used to hate adoption.

And then God, through infertility, miscarriage, and tow little boys in a Russian orphanage, changed my understanding of the gospel, of mission, and of myself.

We're hosting a conference on adoption entitled, 'Adopting for Life,' to take place February 26-27, 2010, in Louisville. You may wonder whether this will be a conference about the doctrine of adoption or 'real' adoption. Well, one of the things that we'll be discussing is the fact that you can't talk about the one without talking about the other.

We've invited great speakers to 'Adopting for Life' who will seek to equip us to create a culture of doption in our families and churches. We'll be answering questions like 'What does adoption have to do with the Great Commission?', 'How can I pay for adoption?', and 'How can we start an adoption ministry in my church?'

I would love to see you at 'Adopting for Life', as we think together about how God might be leading us to be on mission with Christ for the sake of the orphans of the world."

Sharing God's Heart for Orphans With Your Kids

As more and more people are awakened to the needs of orphans, we see many followers of Christ discovering and embracing (many for the first time) the privilege of loving and serving these children that are so very near to the heart of God. But the joy and blessing of being the ‘hands and feet of Jesus’ is not only for “big people” — it is for our children as well.

Hope for Orphans has recently launched a new website called Hope for Orphans Kids. This site has some great tools and resources, including a list of scripture references that detail how God views orphans (and how we should too!), testimonials from orphans from around the world, ways that kids can get involved in serving orphans and even a step-by-step explanation geared toward kids to help them better understand what it means to be adopted in God’s family through faith in Jesus Christ.

Check out Hope for Orphans Kids and invite your child to learn more and experience the joy of loving and serving orphans in Jesus’ name.

Friends – 

First, a Happy Thanksgiving to each of you.  Last week, Kerry and I spoke at Focus on the Family Chapel and shared our journey over the last couple of years with the message of finding God in the valley and why we should carry AUTHENTIC GRATITUDE heading into this holiday season – “BECAUSE OF ANOTHER”.  Gratitude is birthed when we realize our need for another and regardless of your personal trial or suffering, we have a lot to be grateful for because of the work done on Calvary by our savior Jesus Christ.  May you be blessed this holiday season.
